Latest photos from the Left Coast Crime (LCC) awards event held in Seattle, WA. We got a chance to speak to both the winner of the Lefty, Donna Moore for her work GO TO HELENA HANDBASKET, and Dilys Award winner, Louise Penny for her work STILL LIFE. Both share their reactions below. In addition, we chatted with Cornelia Read who learned at LCC of her Edgar Nomination in the "Best First Mystery" category for her work FIELD OF DARKNESS. Don't forget to check the photos during the slideshow for our links to in-stock titles and to visit the featured author's and guest's websites! Donna Moore
"LCC has always been my favourite convention. I was totally convinced I was not going to win. As a result, I enjoyed myself at the banquet - although there's a 10 minute period after my name was announced where I have no clue what happened. It was a bit like being at the Oscars - except I was dressed by Walmart, rather than Versace. Writing this was great fun; having it published was a dream come true; and winning an award is something that was beyond my wildest imagination."
Louise Penny
"I'm not sure my publishers would want me to say this, but I was stunned. I really thought someone else on that shortlist would win and was all prepared, and content, to applaud someone else's good fortune. So I was astonished and thrilled to hear my own name read out. I thank all the readers who parted with hard earned money and precious spare time to read it. I'm deeply grateful to the Independent Mystery Booksellers for choosing STILL LIFE - a book about murder, but mostly, about goodness."
